Executive Message From Our Chair

Each year, I am reminded that Kyeema’s strength lies not only in what we achieve, but in how we adapt. This has been a year of both challenge and growth, and one that revealed the deep resilience that defines this organisation.

Across every level of the organisation, Kyeema has demonstrated the kind of resilience that defines a mission-driven NGO. Despite the challenging funding landscape of 2025 and the natural ebbs and flows of project cycles, the organisation has emerged stronger. We have diversified our income base, reinforced good governance, and ensured that resources are used
wisely and transparently.

This year, Kyeema reached an important financial milestone, recording two million dollars in revenue. This is a significant achievement for our modest organisation. We have also strengthened our financial foundation through a range of new partnerships, including a major livestock
innovation project with IITA in Mozambique, support from Perpetual Philanthropy for community-led livelihoods in Bougainville, and ongoing funding from the National Capital District Commission of Port Moresby to sustain coral monitoring efforts in Central Province.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to sincerely thank Dr Rosa Costa, who stepped down at the end of 2024 after nine years of
dedicated service. Rosa has played a pivotal role in guiding Kyeema through many of its major milestones, and she will be greatly missed on the Board.

At a time when the international development landscape is evolving and resources are stretched, Kyeema’s programs stand as powerful reminders of why locally led development is so vital. Community-driven approaches not only build ownership and accountability but also ensure that solutions last long after external support fades. Whether it is coral gardeners restoring reefs in the Pacific, women farmers building poultry enterprises in Mozambique, or community vaccinators improving food security in Ethiopia, these stories show that progress endures when it begins from within.

Looking ahead, there is so much to look forward to in the year ahead, including new partnerships, deeper regional collaboration, and continued innovation in how we support communities.

To our Board, staff, partners, and the communities who inspire and carry out our work, thank you for your unwavering commitment.

Together, we continue to prove that lasting change begins at the community level and radiates outward.
