Dr Coleta Cherono Sang

Veterinarian

The disease [Newcastle disease] causes up to 100% mortality of poultry once an epidemic occurs. Farmers are  embracing the vaccinations and mortality rates due to the disease have drastically reduced.”

Dr Coleta is an enthusiastic veterinarian working with village poultry farmers to achieve a vision of eradicating Newcastle disease in villages of Narok county, and throughout Kenya. This is part of our Africa-wide project to support the sustainable control of Newcastle disease in select countries – Mozambique, Ethiopia and Kenya. Read more about the Kenyan activity here

Coleta recently explained what she enjoys most about her work with the VETAID-Kyeema project.

Working in the field training vaccinators is a very interesting aspect of the project. As a veterinarian, it is my role to share knowledge acquired with others and it becomes satisfying .”

Kyeema and VETAID East Africa acknowledge the support of the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP).
