Kyeema Foundation 2024 Innovation Business Challenge for Graduating AAU and BDU Veterinary Students

The future of sustainable poultry health and production in Ethiopia demands new thinking, new approaches, and new solutions. In 2024, Kyeema Foundation (Kyeema) is running a business challenge for the class of 2024 veterinary graduates (6th year students) at Bahir Dar University Department of Veterinary Medicine (BDU-DVM) and Addis Ababa University College of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture (AAU-CVMA) to support innovative veterinary business in one of the following areas:

1. Private vaccine vendor business to support sustainable Newcastle disease control in village poultry
2. Sustainable poultry farming
3. Wider private poultry veterinary business

Award fund

  • Winners of the business challenge will be awarded with start-up costs to start their dream business in 2024
  • Awarded funds may range from 100,000 ETB to 250, 000 ETB per submission
  • Awarded fund amount will be determined based on the budget submitted in the application
  • Awarded funds will be dispersed in August 2024
  • Awarded funds must be spent and acquitted before 31st December 2025
  • Funds will be dispersed to one lead applicant only (for single and group submissions) who must be eligible
  • No requirement for students to input their own funds, however students are encouraged to do so

Submissions for the 2024 Veterinary Business Challenge are now open. The deadline for submission is 30th June 2024.
